At Carolina Behavioral Therapy LLC (CBT LLC) our clinicians specialize in the use of evidence based treatments to treat a variety of mood disorders, personality disorders, and problematic behaviors including addictions, eating disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorders. We are an outpatient clinic located in Columbia, SC offering both adult, and adolescent, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) programs. All of our clinicians are working toward Certification through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification and have been intensively trained in DBT. At CBT, LLC we believe mental health care can be treated as other medical conditions with a projected beginning and end to treatment.

Therapists

Scott Fairweather, LISW-CP, MAC, CAC-II
Scott is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Carolina Behavioral Therapy. He was graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Social Work (2006) and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practitioner (LISW-CP), Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC-II). In addition to work in private practice, he is a Clinical Instructor with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science and a Field Instructor for the University of South Carolina College of Social Work Master’s Degree program. He has been approved by SC LLR to provide clinical supervision toward the LISW-CP licensure and by SCAADAC to provide supervision toward the CAC certification. He is currently the DBT team leader at Carolina Behavioral Therapy and is a DBT – Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician (2018).

Amanda Polk, MSW, LMSW
Amanda is a retired from the US Army and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. She received a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of South Carolina and her Masters of Social Work from Walden University. She has been a foster parent for 3 years and works part time with South Carolina Youth Advocacy Program (SCYAP) as a In home Therapist. She is currently under clinical supervision toward LISW-CP licensure.

Alexandria Bodnariuk, MSW, LMSW
Alexandria was graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. She completed a Master’s of Social Work at the University of South Carolina and is currently under clinical supervision toward the LISW-CP licensure.

What We Provide:

In addition to providing individual therapy, our therapists provide a comprehensive outpatient Linehan style Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program. DBT is designed to treat a variety of behavioral, emotional, interpersonal, and cognitive disorders not limited to; borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, addictions, and eating disordered behaviors. DBT helps individuals develop a life they find satisfying by teaching coping skills, identifying and changing the conditions that lead to, or maintain, problematic behaviors, and through coaching between sessions to assist with the integration of new information into the individual’s lifestyle.

Individuals participating in the DBT program are provided with 4 services.

  1. Individual weekly therapy
  2. Weekly skills training (24 weeks adults, 25 weeks adolescents)
  3. Phone coaching
